Carol A. Lane, 74, of Sioux City, passed away Monday, Aug. 28, 2017, at a local hospital.

Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City. Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. today, with family present 5 to 7 p.m., at the funeral home.

Carol was born on Feb. 28, 1943, in Sioux City, the daughter of Kenneth and Nellie May (Watterson) Keairns. Carol attended Riverside High School. During that time she worked at the Ice Cream Shop, where she met the love of her life, James E. Lane. They married on Dec. 17, 1960. They had four children. James passed away in 2012.

Carol worked as a unit secretary at St. Luke's Hospital for many years. She then worked in customer service for MCI, until retiring.

Carol enjoyed watching true crime television shows, doing Sudoku puzzles, crocheting, and her pet cat, Lucky.

Survivors include her children, Wendy (Rick) Winters of South Sioux City, Ken (Laura) Lane and Roger Lane, both of Sioux City; daughter-in-law, Cindy Lane of Sioux City; brothers, Robert, Harry, Neil, William, Kenneth, Jimmy, Steve, and Scott Keairns; sisters, Diana Butler, Kenna Mae Owens, Dorothy Dill, and Sue Hubert; grandchildren, Nathan (Heather) Winters, Megan (Tony) Zavala, Dana (Clyde) Sandine, Marcus (Cassie) Lane, Thomas James Lane, Gage McGuire, and Autumn Morey; 11 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Thomas Lane; brother, Donny Keairns; and sister, Barbara Smith.
