SOUTH SIOUX CITY -- B.J. "Bud" Stewart, 65, of South Sioux City passed away Monday, Dec. 11, 2006, at his residence following a lengthy illness.

Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Tri-State Christian Church in South Sioux City followed by a Masonic service. The body was cremated. Visitation with the family will be one hour prior to the service Saturday at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Becker-Hunt Funeral Home.

Bud was born June 19, 1941, in Onawa, Iowa, the son of Bernard M. and Hazel L. (Stanton) Stewart. He graduated from Central High School in Sioux City, in 1959.

He married Sharen K. Barrett on Nov. 13, 1959, in Elk Point S.D. He was employed as an ironworker, following jobs throughout the United States.

He was a member of the Iron Workers Local 433, North Riverside Masonic Lodge 662 in Sioux City and the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 548.

Survivors include his wife, Sharen; two sons, Burton of South Sioux City and Bradlee and his wife, Debbie of Sioux City; a daughter and her husband, Kelly and Keith Rasmussen of Sioux City; a brother and his wife, John and Jean Stewart of Sioux City; his mother-in-law, LaVonne Barrett; three nieces; a nephew; 10 grandchildren, three that they raised, Amber Stewart, Benjamin and Alyssa Sorensen and their other grandchildren, Brandy and Cigi Stewart, Nick, Rachel and Jake Rogers and Brian and Lourin Rasmussen; and three great-grandchildren, Kalin, Gage and Cameron.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Louri Sorensen; a son-in-law, Merle Sorensen; his father-in-law, Elmer Barrett; and a granddaughter, Brittney Stewart.
