Allen A. Anderson, 92, of Sioux City died Wednesday, Nov. 15, 2006, at his home following a lengthy illness.

Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Christy-Smith Morningside Chapel, with the Rev. Dwight Gernand of Glendale Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Christy-Smith Morningside Chapel.

Allen was born Dec. 25, 1913, in Castana, Iowa, the son of Frans and Mabel Allen. He attended country school in Ticonic, Iowa. He was a member of the Iowa National Guard and the C.C.C.

He married Emma Castle on Oct. 11, 1941, in Dakota City. The couple moved to Sioux City in 1942. He worked for Cudahy Packing Co. until it closed. He then worked for Armour Packing. In 1975, he went to work for the Sioux City School Board and worked there until he retired in 1978. He also worked as a night watchman at Younkers Department Store.

He loved to talk on the C.B. radio; his handle was Double A. He enjoyed talking to people all over the country and the world. He liked working on cars and enjoyed feeding and watching the squirrels and birds.

Survivors are his wife, Emma of Sioux City; four children, Shirley and her husband, Will Snyder of Sioux City, Patricia Coonen of Plattsmouth, Neb., Bonnie and her husband, Sonny Lariviere of Sioux City, and Roger and his wife, Kristi Anderson of Elk Point, S.D.; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; two stepgrandchildren; and a great-stepgrandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a grandchild; two great-grandchildren; four brothers, Harold, Charles, Albert and Roy Anderson; and a sister, Beulah Roberts.

Pallbearers will be Michael Snyder, Shawn Coonen, Garth Coonen, Douglas Snyder, Ronald Lariviere and Timothy Anderson. Honorary pallbearers will be Sandy Drake, Shelia Kilakai, Brenda Michell, Steve Michell, Willard Snyder, Sonny Lariviere and Kristi Anderson.
