Robert A. "Rob" Stairs Jr., 28, of Sioux City passed away Tuesday, Nov. 14, 2006, at his residence.

Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Spirit of Life Lutheran Church in Sergeant Bluff. Burial will be in Danbury Cemetery, Danbury, Iowa. Visitation will be 2 to 8 p.m. today at Waterbury Funeral Service in Sergeant Bluff.

Robert Anson Stairs Jr. was born March 2, 1978, in Sioux City, the son of Robert and Lynda (Earnest) Stairs. He joined the Air National Guard in 1995, but received a medical discharge due to an off-duty injury. He was especially talented in training dogs for the blind through a program developed by the Lions Club. One of his favorite dogs was Tucker, which he raised and trained. He was currently working as a bartender at the Clarion Hotel and Conference Center. He was attending Western Iowa Tech Community College to obtain certification as a social worker.

His favorite sport was football.

He is survived by his mother, Lynda Jacobson and her significant other, Marlin Sturgeon of Sioux City; three sisters, Sandra and her husband, Tony Jahn, Christine Jacobson and Sharon Jacobson, all of Sioux City; an aunt and her husband, Marg and Gary Hunwardsen of Kingsley, Iowa; an uncle and his wife, Gary and Terrie Ernest of Claremore, Okla.; and four nieces, Nicole, Abby, Stephanie and Kay.

Pallbearers will be his good friends, Alex Nguyen, Robert Hawley, Chris Robinson, Jason Cobbs, Eastley Bolton, Jeff Barg, Neal Friedrichs, Mike Davis and Curtis Collins.
