James Wayne Carlson, 70, of Sioux City died unexpectedly Fr2006iday, Nov. 17, 2006, at his residence.

The body was cremated. As per his wishes, there will be no services. Arrangements are under the direction of Christy-Smith Morningside Chapel.

Mr. Carlson was born Feb. 17, 1936, in Sioux City, the son of Paul and Mildred (Bradbury) Carlson. He attended Sioux City schools. He was a lifelong Westsider. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps, stationed in Japan.

He was united in marriage to Avis Kendric with whom he had five children. He later married Linda Bundy in Reno, Nev. on April 16, 1970, with whom he had two children. He was a professional welder.

He enjoyed fishing, hosting fish fries and hog roasts, his beautiful gardens and feeding and watching the birds. He served on the WCCAA board - Westside Center and on the Prospect Hill Neighborhood. He was a great friend to many and will be greatly missed by all that knew him.

Survivors include his wife, Linda Carlson of Sioux City; four sons, Shane Carlson and his wife, Renee, Cedric Carlson of Sioux City, Courtney Carlson and Jimmy Carlson; two daughters, Paula Carlson and Vicki Carlson; five grandchildren, Kevin, Susan and Alex Bradbury and Daniel and Tiffany June; grandchildren; two brothers, Courtney and Gary Carlson; and three sisters, Saundra, Lore and Lynn.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a daughter, Kim Smith.
