Jackie L. Simmons, 53, of Dakota City, passed away Sunday, July 30, 2017, at a Sioux City hospital.

Memorial services will be 5 p.m. Thursday at Mohr Funeral Home in South Sioux City. Visitation with the family will begin at 4 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Jackie was born on Aug. 30, 1963, in Ranger, Texas, the son of James and Terrella (Powers) Simmons. He moved to the South Sioux City area in 2007. He worked as a sales rep at Charlston, Inc. in Sioux City.

Jackie enjoyed hunting, fishing, guns, the outdoors, helping other people, and watching the Dallas Cowboys and Nebraska Huskers football teams.

Survivors include his mother and stepfather, Terry and JR Ewing of Texas; two daughters, Jaci (Trent) Goodrich and Jessica (Eric) Zwernemann, both of Texas; a stepson, Michael Cargile of Texas; five grandchildren; sisters, Debra Kay Dunne of Texas, Melissa (Dale) Hans of South Sioux City, and Tracey Jeanette Simmons of New York; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, James Simmons; and a brother, Bobby Earl Simmons.
