Phillip Michael Reeves, 68, formerly of Sioux City, passed away Sunday, July 30, 2017, at his home at Holiday Lake near Brooklyn.

There will be no services at this time. Arrangements are under the direction of Kloster Funeral Home in Brooklyn.

Phillip M. Reeves was born on Sept. 24, 1948, in Memphis, Tenn., the son of George Washington Reeves, Jr. and Vida Gertrude Bateman Reeves. He graduated from Kingsbury High School in Memphis, Tenn. with the class of 1966. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1967 to 1973, during the Vietnam War, and was stationed at Camp Lejeune in N.C.

He and Cindy Kooser McDonough were married on May 24, 1993, in Elk Point, S.D. Phillip was employed with the meat packing industry for more than 40 years; previously employed with the John Morrell Company in Sioux City, and presently employed as a cost manager with JBS in Marshalltown, Iowa.

He made his home at Holiday Lake, and served on the Lake board of directors. He was an avid huntsman of deer, pheasant, turkey and enjoyed fishing too. He enjoyed grilling and cooking for his family and the guys during deer camp. He liked karaoke, singing, dancing and entertaining dear friends with jokes and southern analogies or "Philisms." A highlight of his earlier years was meeting the King, Elvis Presley, during his job with the Summer Twin Drive-in Theatre in Memphis.

He is survived by his wife, Cindy; five children, Timothy Reeves (Karen) of Como, Miss., Trudi Reeves (Oscar) and Terri Reeves of Memphis, Jonathon McDonough (Blair) of Tiffin, Iowa, and Casey McDonough (Matt) of Newton, Iowa; six grandchildren, Camille Stewart, Victoria Reeves, Hannah Reeves, Oscar Lee Malone IV, Kinsley McDonough and Kyler McDonough; and three great-grandchildren, Ethan, Autumn, and Austin.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Billy.

He will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him.
