Kay M. (Sawyer) Roering-Dean, 73, of Sioux City, passed away on Thursday, June 29, 2017, at a local nursing facility.

Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at the funeral home. Online condolences may be offered to the family at www.meyerbroschapels.com.

Kay was born on June 10, 1944, in Sioux City, to Norman J. “Doc” and Goldie (Crouch) Sawyer. She graduated from East High School with the Class of 1962.

Kay married Ronald Roering, and to this union, two sons were born, James of Sergeant Bluff and Mark of Des Moines, where he lives with his wife, Emily and their three children. Following the dissolution of her first marriage, Kay married Chancy C. Dean on May 7, 1999.

Kay is survived by her husband, Chancy of Sioux City; sons, James and Mark; stepchildren, Chancy A. Dean of Sioux City, and Michelle Dean of Omaha; brother, David Sawyer of Lincoln, Neb.; sister, Pam Moore of Everett, Wash.; and several nieces and nephews.

Kay was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, Michael and Thomas.
