William C. Koetters, 87, of Kearney, formerly of Sioux City, died Saturday, Aug. 5, 2017, at Mother Hull Home in Kearney.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Faith Lutheran Church in Sioux City. The Rev. Ralph Shorey will officiate. There will be no visitation. William was born on June 18, 1930, in Sioux City, to William G. and Veigh E. (Garner) Koetters. He attended Central High School in Sioux City and graduated with the class of 1948. Shortly after high school, he was accepted as a carpenter apprentice in Carpenter Local 948 in Sioux City. After serving a four-year apprenticeship, he was awarded a certificate of completion and became a lifetime member of Carpenter Local 948.

He married Alice D. Eastman at Riverside Lutheran Church in Sioux City, on May 5, 1950. This union was blessed with eight children, Steven, Matthew, Daniel, Jason, Jaime, Meryl, Reba and Michael.

Surviving relatives include his wife, Alice of Kearney; sons, Steven and Kathy Koetters and Matthew and Michalene Koetters, all of Sioux City, Daniel Koetters of Johnston, Iowa, and Jason and Carin Koetters of Kearney, Neb.; daughters, Jaime and Dennis Flynn of Kearney, Meryl and Dennis Tieck and Reba Koetters, all of Sioux City; 12 grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and two great-stepgrandchildren.

William was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Michael; and two granddaughters.
