Louis Paul Klouda, 83, of Sioux City died Thursday, Sept. 29, 2005, at his residence.

Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, with the Rev. Craig Collison officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a parish vigil service at 7 p.m., at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Christy-Smith Berkemier Chapel.

Louis was born on April 28, 1922, in Tyndall, S.D., the son of James and Antonia (Cernoskova) Klouda. As a young child, he moved with his family to Sioux City. He attended Sioux City Public Schools and graduated from Central High School in 1940.

He married Dorothy Redenius on Oct. 10, 1942, in South Sioux City. Louis worked for Cudahy Packing Co. from 1943 to 1954. From 1955 to 1962, he was the owner of Klouda's Riverview Market. During the 1950s, Louis, along with Carl Johnson, was instrumental in making improvements to streets, sewers and the neighborhood area. He was employed by the U.S. Department of Agriculture as a meat inspector for over 20 years, retiring in 1985.

He attended Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Some of Louis' many passions included his family, sports, the Cubs, Chiefs, hunting, drawing, dog tracks, playing bingo and writing many mini editorials. He also loved to cook Bohemian dinners and will be forever known by everyone for his willingness to help anyone in their time of need.

Survivors include his daughters, Cindy (Klouda) Reed and Bill Babb of Sioux City, Linda Kellogg of Jackson, Minn., and Debbie and Tom Collins of Cushing, Iowa; sons, Mark Klouda and fiancee, Rhonda and Woody Klouda, all of Sioux City; two brothers, Jerry Klouda and Tony Klouda, both of California; a sister, Rosie LaPierre of Florida; 13 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy on July 11, 1999; his parents; a son-in-law, Walt Kellogg; four brothers, Joe Hubal, James Klouda, George Klouda and Woody Klouda; and two sisters, Albina Elliott and Albinka Hubal.
