Jack E. Slutsky, 81, Sioux City, died Saturday, October 26, 1996 at a Sioux City hospital following a long illness.

Graveside services will be 11 a.m. today at the Independent Farane Cemetery with Spiritual Leader James Sherman of Congregation Beth Shalom officiating. Nelson-Berger Northside Chapel is in charge of arrangements. There will be no visitation.

Mr. Slutsky was born February 20, 1915 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, the son of Harry and Sarah (Smehoff) Slutsky. He came to Sioux City with his family as a child. He attended Sioux City schools and graduated from Central High School in 1932. He attended Morningside College and Creighton University in Omaha.

He married Marian Robinson August 21, 1938 in Sioux City. She died December 11, 1987 in Sioux City. He was an insurance agent for Penn Life Insurance Co. for many years. He also worked part time for Greenberg’s Jewelers.

Mr. Slutsky was an Army veteran of World War II.

Survivors include a son, Harley and his wife, Jean of Fort Wayne, Indiana, a sister, Sophie Ratner of Sioux City, a granddaughter, Anna; a niece, Nancy Ratner and a nephew, Harry Ratner.
