Miriam L. Myers, 88, of Sioux City, died Friday, November 1, 1996 at a local hospital.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Grace United Methodist Church with the Rev. William H. Steward officiating. Burial will be in the Graceland Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Nelson-Berger Morningside Chapel. There will be a Eastern Star service at 7:30 p.m. today, by the Morningside Chapter 502 Order of the Eastern Star, at the funeral home.

Mrs. Myers was born March 29, 1908 in Madison, S.D., the daughter of William D. and Eda V. (Johnson) Garrett. She married John F. Myers on June 15, 1962, in Sioux City. He died July 4, 1976. She graduated from Central High School in 1925, Sioux City Normal in 1928 and Wayne State College in 1940. She taught at Grant and McKinley schools in Sioux City until 1964.

Mrs. Myers was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, the Morningside Garden Club, St. Luke’s Auxiliary, the Woodbury County Genealogical Society, a charter member of the McHenry County, Illinois Genealogical Society, and the Isis Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star from 1926 until her marriage in 1962, when she was sent to the Morningside Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star.

Survivors include one grandniece, Kay Bukovich of Moville, Iowa and two grandnephews, Rev. Dr. Robert E. Peters of Lawton and David Peters of Colo., Iowa.

She was preceded in death by one brother, Glenn Garrett.
