Florence A. Flanagan, 99, of Sioux City, died Monday September 9, 1996 at Countryside Retirement Home.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. today at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with the Rev. Paul-Louis Arts officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Larkin Morningside Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

Mrs. Flanagan, the former Florence Roan, was born October 16, 1896, in LeMars, Iowa the daughter of Thomas and Ada (Benedict) Roan. She grew up in Sergeant Bluff, where she attended school and moved to Sioux City in 1921. She married Thomas J. Flanagan on July 24, 1929 in LeMars. He died March 4, 1977 in Sioux City. Mrs. Flanagan worked for Northwestern Bell Telephone Company for 12 years and then for St. Joseph Hospital for 18 years.

Mrs. Flanagan was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and the church Altar Society. She was a member of the Girls of “68” and the Greenville Senior Citizens Club for many years.

Survivors include two nephews, Stanley Roan of Sioux City and Rubel Iverson of Salix, Iowa; and a niece, Audrey Vercilello of Chicago, Illinois.

She was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister.
