Edward L. Nyreen, 58, of Sioux City died Sunday, September 8, 1996 at University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska following a lengthy illness.

Services will be 2 p.m. today at Nelson-Berger Morningside Chapel, with the Rev. David Cline of St. Luke Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Mr. Nyreen was born April 3, 1938 in Sioux City, the son of Harvey and Luella (Marsh) Nyreen. He served in the United States Air Force from 1955 to 1959.

On October 6, 1956, he married Janice L. Mercuriali in Elk Point, S.D.

He was employed by Standard Ready Mix for 34 years as a truck driver, until his retirement in 1994.

Mr. Nyreen was a member of St. Luke Lutheran Church and the Boys of “68”. He was an avid sports fan, who enjoyed gardening and golf.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Craig and Brian and his wife Barb; two daughters and their husbands, Sandra and Doug Boisen and Diane and Pete Jorgensen; his mother; his grandmother, Esther Marsh; two brothers, Larry and his wife, Duffy and Darold, all from Sioux City; and nine grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Pallbearers will be Doug Boisen, Pete Jorgensen, David Rich, Alan Mercuriali, Bill Krager Jr. and Bob Petrik.
