Agnes I. Stanislav, 93, of Sioux City died Sunday at the Matney Morningside Manor.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with the Rev. Paul-Louis Arts officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 9 p.m. today, with the family present from 6:30 to 8 p.m. and a parish vigil services at 7 p.m. at the Larkin Morningside Funeral Home.

Mrs. Stanislav was born January 4, 1903 in Weston, Nebraska, the daughter of Frank and Mary (Hakel) Meduna. She married Charles J. Stanislav on January 22, 1924 in Weston, Nebraska. He died January 26, 1993, in Sioux City.

The couple farmed in rural Weston, in 1930, then moved to the Blencoe, Iowa, area to farm. They also farmed in the Sloan and Hornick areas before moving to Sioux City in 1946.

Prior to her marriage she taught school in rural Nebraska.

Mrs. Stanislav was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and the Church Altar Society. She also was a member of the Carmelite Guild.

Survivors include four sons and their wives, Leonard and Emma Lou of Onawa, Iowa, Ben and Betty of Omaha, Nebraska, Charles J. Jr. and Pat of Bethany Beach, Del. And Ivan and Mary of Dearborn, Mich.; eight daughters and their husbands, Bernice and Jack Fitzpatrick, Monica Wiggs, Frances and Kenneth O’Dea and Kathy and Jim Powell, all of Sioux City, Rita and William Horan of Sun City, California, Alice and Herbert Cederberg of Little Canada, Minn., Linda Schoeder of Grand Island, Nebraska and Agnes Phister of Buffalo, N.Y.; 57 grandchildren; 65 great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Virginia; two grandsons, David Wiggs and Michael Phister; two granddaughters, Patricia Phister and Mary E. Stanislav; a great-granddaughter; six brothers, William, Frank, Louis, James, Albert and Edward; and five sisters, Gabriela Sabatka, Sr. Ladislava (Rose) Meduna O.S.B., Mary Stanislav, Bessie and Lillian Meduna.

Pallbearers will be Tom Fitzpatrick, Craig and Mike Wiggs, Kenny O’Dea Jr., Steve Schroeder and Chris Powell.

A memorial has been established in her name for the “Queen of Peace” shrine and Carmelite Monastery.
