SMITHLAND, Iowa | Angie M. Jones, 84, of Smithland, died Friday, March 24, 2017, at her home.

Cremation rites will be accorded and private memorial services will be held at later date in Little Sioux Township Cemetery at Smithland. Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel in Sioux City is in charge of arrangements. Online condolences may be expressed at www.meyerbroschapels.com.

Angeline Marie, daughter of Alouis and Rose (Stodden) Uhl, was born Aug. 21, 1932, in Sioux City. Angie grew up and attended school in the Leeds area. She graduated from Leeds High School in 1950. As a teenager, she worked at Sodderstrom Dairy and after graduating from high school, she worked at J.C. Penneys.

On Oct. 21, 1953, Angie was united in marriage to Bernard Rook at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Leeds. To this union three children were born, Starla, Bill and Cheryl. Bernard passed away in 1957.

On Nov. 29, 1958, Angie married Robert E. Jones at St. Michael's. To this union four children were born, Pam, Bob, Peggy and Patrick. The family made their home in the Morningside area of Sioux City and then moved to an acreage near Sioux City. They moved to an acreage near Hinton, Iowa, then to Omaha, and moved to Smithland, Iowa, in the early 1980s. Over the years, Angie worked alongside her husband, Bob in their trucking business and Bob Jones Service. Bob passed away unexpectedly on Oct. 31, 2012.

Angie enjoyed cooking, vegetable and flower gardening and going to stock car races with her husband. Above all, she was a great wife and mom and enjoyed spending time with her family.

She is survived by her children, Starla Rook of Anthon, Iowa, Bill (Jeannine) Rook of Sidney, Iowa, Cheryl (Ken) Hessenius of Milford, Iowa, Pam (Robert) Reed of Elk Point, S.D., Robert (Linda) Jones of Sergeant Bluff, Peggy (Frank) Bechtold of Mapleton, Iowa and Patrick Jones of Seattle, Wash.; 10 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; five siblings, Mary (George) Harrington of Sioux City, Jim (Irene) Uhl of Frazee, Minn., Richard (Dorothy) Uhl of Lawton, Iowa, Gloria Snyder of Sheldon, Iowa, and Carolyn (Allen) Van Voorst of Rodney, Iowa; and many nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands; son-in-law, Robert Kramer; one brother, Gerald (Florence) Uhl; and one sister, Patricia (Don) Petersen; and brother-in-law, Dwight Moorhead.
