SIOUX CITY | Donald R. White, 86, of Sioux City, passed away Saturday, March 4, 2017, at a local care facility after a brief illness.

Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at First Lutheran Church. The Rev. Len Halvorson will officiate. Burial will be in Logan Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 10 a.m. until service time Wednesday at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Don was born on Nov. 2, 1930, in Sioux City, the son of Orville and Edith (Spangler). Don grew up in Sioux City and graduated from Leeds High School. He served in the U.S. Army Reserves.

On June 20, 1953, Don married Jean M. Vigen in Sioux City. She passed away on Nov. 8, 2013, in Sioux City. Don worked for Mid-American Energy for 35 years and was stationed at the Port Neal Plant.

He was a longtime member of First Lutheran Church and was an avid bowler. Don was a fan of Morningside College athletics and was known as Mustang Don. He also followed the Iowa Hawkeyes and West High School athletics.

Survivors include his son, David R. White of Omaha.

Don was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Delores and Dorothy.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to First Lutheran Church.
