SIOUX CITY | Linda (Reese) Ferree, 66, of Warsaw, Mo., formerly of Sioux City, went to be with the Lord Sunday, Jan. 1, 2017, at Kansas City Hospice after a courageous battle with throat cancer.

Services will be at a later date.

Linda Kay was born Jan. 28, 1950, in Sioux City, to Jim and Betty (Allyn) Reese. She attended Sioux City Public Schools, graduating in 1968 from Central High School.

On March 30, 1968, she married Keith Chaplin. They had two sons. They later divorced.

In 1971, she moved to Arizona, and worked for Motorola for several years as an inspector.

She returned to the Midwest, and on Oct. 9, 2004, she married Steve Ferree in Wichita, Kan. She worked at Wichita State University until poor health retired her. Upon retirement, Linda and Steve moved to Warsaw in 2009.

She was active in her church, Warsaw Assembly of God.

Linda loved to fish on Truman Lake, travel in their RV, crochet, and feed the wild birds.

Survivors include her husband, Steve; two sons, Brent (Donna) Chaplin of Scottsdale, Ariz., and Kirk (Lori) Chaplin of Mesa, Ariz.; grandsons, Dylan, Conor and Logan, all of Mesa; her parents, Jim and Betty Reese of Sioux City; sister, Judy (Mike) Roe of Parkville, Mo.; brother, Don (Connie) Reese of Sioux City; two sisters-in-law, Vicki Ferree and Ruth Ferree; two stepsons, Michael Ferree of Albuquerque, N.M., and Jason (Jeanette) Ferree, Becky and Alex, all of Austin, Texas; aunts, uncles, cousins and several friends; and her three pets.

She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents; maternal grandparents; and aunts and uncles.

Linda appreciated all who were an encouragement to her, and for their prayers during her illness.
