Theodore H. “Ted” Hackmann, 93, of Sioux City died Thursday at a local nursing home after a long illness.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Rustin Avenue United Methodist Church with the Rev. Martha Anderson officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 3 to 8 p.m. today with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. at Christy Smith and Hockenberry Funeral Home.

Mr. Hackmann was born on September 24, 1904, in St. Charles, Mo., the son of Theodore H. and Adele H. (Kunze) Hackmann. He lived in Warrenton, Mo., and Malvern, Iowa where he graduated from high school in 1924. He married Evelyn L. Manson on June 1, 1932 in Elk Point, SD. The couple lived in Logan, Iowa from 1932 to 1943 during which time he worked as a barber. They moved back to Sioux City in 1943 and he was employed by O.P. Skaggs, National Foods and Johnnies Market until his retirement. She died on March 11, 1998.

A member of Rustin Avenue United Methodist Church, United Methodist Men, he had served on the church’s board of trustees.

Survivors include a son, Duane G of Arlington, Iowa and several nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by a sister, Adele and a brother, William.

Memorials may be directed to Rustin Avenue United Methodist Church.
