Velma J. Winter, 69, of Sioux City died Sunday, March 29, 1998, at a Sioux City hospital.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Morningside Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Kevin Lee officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. today, with the family present from 6 to 9 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m. with the Rev. Donohue Sarff officiating, at Nelson-Berger Morningside Chapel.

Mrs. Winter was born December 10, 1928 in Ashton, Iowa, the daughter of Rheinhard and Louisa (Vaupel) Feldman.

She married Kenneth Winter on August 15, 1949 in George, Iowa.

She was employed as a preschool teacher at Winnie The Pooh Preschool.

She was a member of Morningside Lutheran Church.

Survivors include her husband; a son, Keith of Minneapolis, Minn. a daughter and her husband, Marilyn and Leon DeJong of Des Moines, a brother and his wife, Marvin and Agnes Feldman of Sibley, Iowa, five sisters, Pearl and her husband, Robert Wolf of Sheldon, Iowa, Lorraine and her husband, Rowdy Henning of Moville, Iowa, Myrna and her husband, Elmer Herronemus of Ashton, Lois Krull of George and Iva Jean Ott of Davenport, Iowa and two grandchildren, Jonathan and Rebecca DeJong.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
