SIOUX CITY | Lari Stopek, 77, of Lincoln, Neb., formerly of Sioux City, died on Jan. 24, 2017.

Funeral will be 1:30 p.m. today at Aldersgate United Methodist Church, 8320 South St., in Lincoln. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Butherus Maser and Love Funeral Home in Lincoln. Condolences may be sent online to www.bmlfh.com.

Lari was born on April 5, 1939, in Sioux City, to Lyle James and Roma Josephine (Ralya) Zortman. She graduated from Central High in Sioux City and earned a degree from a business college in Sioux City. She worked for AT&T in Sioux City for 12 years. After moving to Lincoln, she worked as a switchboard operator at St. Elizabeth Hospital for 23 years.

She was a avid bowler and was a past board member of Lincoln Women's Bowling Association. She enjoyed reading books to the blind at Nebraska Services for the Visually impaired, served as secretary and treasurer of Communication Workers of America, and was a member of Welcome Wagon and New Comers of Lincoln.

Lari is survived by husband, Jim Stopek; daughters, Roni (William) Vlasnik, and Jamie (John) Haldiman; grandchildren, Amanda and Jade Vlasnik, Hayley and Adam Haldiman; great-granddaughter, Rylee Carlson; sisters, Janice Hill and Judy Brown; and brothers, James and John Zortman.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
