Bonnie J. Porter, 79, of Sioux City died Friday, Sept. 16, 2005, at a Sioux City hospital after a brief illness.

Services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Trinity Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Paul Johnston officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 2 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 6:30 p.m., at Nelson-Berger Northside Chapel.

Bonnie was born Jan. 2, 1926, in Galva, Iowa, the daughter of John C. and Louise (Schafer) Sievert. She grew up in Ida Grove, Iowa, and graduated from Ida Grove High School.

She married Wayne Nelson Porter on Sept. 1, 1951, in Sioux City. He died on Jan. 1, 1993, in Sioux City. In earlier years, she worked at Davenport Cleaners.

She was a longtime member of Trinity Lutheran Church. Bonnie loved her family, playing bingo and listening to karaoke.

Survivors include a son, Wayne Porter Jr. and his wife, Cheryl of Sioux City; three sisters, Mildred Petersen, Marie Brinkman and her husband, Walt and Irene Reitz and her husband, Clarence and a brother, Roy Sievert, all of Ida Grove; a sister-in-law, Lucille Sievert of Texas; three grandchildren, Lynne Uhl and her husband, Darin of Alton, Iowa, Leae Porter and special friend, Kelly Smith and Tyler Porter, all of Sioux City.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and a brother, Melvin Sievert.

Pallbearers will be John Brinkman, Dan Hoffman, Fred Krenk, Richard Petersen, Bob Sievert and Uuno Kanto.
