9 September 2005Maria G. Calderon, 31, of Sioux City died Monday, Sept. 5, 2005, at her residence.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Cathedral of the Epiphany Catholic Church, with the Rev. Paul J. Kelly officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 1 to 9 p.m. today, with a parish vigil service at 7 p.m., at Larkin Northside Funeral Home.
Maria was born Jan. 13, 1974, in Guatemala, the daughter of Gilberto and Virgilia (Alvarez) Oliva-Paiz. She had lived in the United States since she was 14. She worked as a laborer for John Morrell & Co.
She enjoyed dancing.
Survivors include her husband, Carlos Calderon of Pekin, Ill.; three sons, Bryan Montepeque, Erald Calderon and Aldair Calderon, all of Sioux City; a daughter, Abigail Calderon of Sioux City; a sister, Aura Robles of Sioux City; her mother, Virgilia Oliva-Paiz of Guatemala; and extended family.
She was preceded in death by her father.
Pallbearers will be Bryan Montepeque, Eric Reyes, Andy Reyes, Manual Martinez, Bobby Rasmussen and Jose Porras.
