Edrine C. "Brad" Bradbury, 85, of Sioux City died Tuesday, Sept. 13, 2005, at a Sioux City hospital following a brief illness.

Memorial services will be 10 a.m. Friday at First Evangelical Free Church, with the Rev. Dan Doran officiating. Military rites will be conducted following the memorial service Friday. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. today, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.

Edrine was born June 30, 1920, in Mapleton, Iowa, the daughter of Edwin G. and Katherine (Null) Champion. She attended school in Mapleton and graduated in 1942 from Methodist Hospital School of Nursing in Sioux City.

She enlisted in the U.S. Army Nurse Corps during World War II. She was stationed in the Philippines and achieved the rank of first lieutenant. She returned to Sioux City, where she was a registered nurse in obstetrics at St. Luke's Regional Medical Center for about 28 years. She retired in 1985.

She was a member of St. Luke's Nurses' Club, First Evangelical Free Church and was active in the church J.O.Y. Group. She was a member of the American Legion Monahan post 64. Edrine or "Brad" (as she was known as to many) was a seeker of knowledge. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, reading, history and educational programs.

Survivors include a son, Mark Bradbury of Sioux City; two brothers, Duane Champion of Clay, N.Y., and Eugene Champion and his wife, Lila of Denison, Iowa; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother and his wife, Harold and Gladys Champion; and a sister-in-law, Ethel Champion.

Memorials may be made in her name and directed to the family for charitable distribution.
