Julia V. Cagley, 94, of Encore Senior Village in Peoria, Ariz., formerly of Sioux City, died Monday, Sept. 12, 2005, in Peoria.

Services will be 10 a.m. Friday at First Lutheran Church in Sioux City. Burial will be in Graceland Park Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Arrangements are under the direction of Nelson-Berger Northside Chapel in Sioux City.

Julia V. Boni was born June 5, 1911, in Detroit, Mich., the daughter of Frank H. and Anna M. (Eicker) Boni Jr. She grew up in Waterloo, Iowa, graduating from East High School. She then graduated from Iowa State Teachers College and attended a one year nurses training at Flower Fifth Avenue Hospital in New York City.

She married Willis E. Mayne on 1940. He died in 1949. She moved to Sioux City in 1949 and worked as a reference librarian for 22 years. She married Robert E. Cagley in 1951. He died in 2003.

She was a junior board member of the famous Cradle (an adoptive agency in Evanston), a volunteer for the service board of Holy Spirit Retirement Home and a volunteer for KWIT. She was a member of the Abu Bekr Shrine Auxiliary, St. Luke's Regional Medical Center Auxiliary and First Lutheran Church.

Survivors include a daughter, Susan E. Abernethy of Phoenix, Ariz.; two grandchildren, Tina S. Kape of Chandler, Ariz., and Scott B. Abernethy of Concord, N.C.; and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert E. Cagley; a son, James F. Mayne; a sister, Lorraine Wildes; and her parents, Frank and Anna Margarete (Eicker) Boni.
