Maxine Delores "Gragene" (Shulenberger) Lorenz, 78, of Oklahoma City, Okla., formerly of Sioux City, died Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2005, in Oklahoma City.

Memorials services will be held at a later date in Sioux City.

Maxine was born Jan. 29, 1927, in Rosalie, Neb., to J.M. and Minnie (Larson) Shulenberger and was the youngest of five children. Her family moved to Sioux City in 1930, where she attended Sioux City Public Schools, graduating in 1944.

She married William F. Lorenz on Sept. 5, 1947, and the union produced two children. Following her retirement from Northwestern Bell Telephone Co., she moved to Oklahoma City in the early 1980s.

She is survived by a daughter and her husband, Toni Renee (Lorenz) and Ken Ragsdale and their children, Anne Taylor Ragsdale and John Kenneth Ragsdale, all of Oklahoma City; a son and his wife, William Dirk and Phyllis Lorenz and their children, Heather Minton and Nicholas Sweeden, all of Little Rock, Ark.; a brother, Robert Shulenberger of Fountain Valley, Calif.; two sisters-in-law, Mina Shulenberger and Gale and her husband, Charles Avery, all of Sioux City; six nieces, Kayle Shulenberger and Susan Shulenberger, both of Seattle, Wash., Dev Suroop Khalsa of Espanola, N.M., Nancy Shulenberger and Karen Quirk, both of Sioux City and Kelly Barbera of Yorba Linda, Calif.; two nephews, John Shulenberger of Sioux City and Robert J. Shulenberger Jr. of Costa Mesa, Calif.; an extended family; and countless friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and three brothers, John, Harold and Marvin.
