SOUTH SIOUX CITY | Robert Eugene Meier, 94, of South Sioux City, passed away Friday, Jan. 20, 2017, at his residence surrounded by his family.

Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to service time at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City.

Robert was born on March 25, 1922, in Correctionville, Iowa, to Arthur Murray and Marie (Sweezy) Meier. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in June of 1944 and was honorably discharged in 1946.

Robert married Dorothy Denind on Sept. 23, 1950. Robert worked at Johnson Biscuit Company for many years.

He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Hunting, fishing, and watching sports were some of his favorite pastimes.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy of South Sioux City; children, Linda (Robert) McDaniel of South Sioux City, Susan (Mark Jr.) Tighe of Sioux City, and Randy (Lisa) of Colorado; siblings, Genevieve, Marvin, Everet, Shirley, Marlene, and Lois; and grandchildren, Allison, Matthew, Courtney, Melissa, and Joshua.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents; son, Robert; and siblings, Helen, Mary Jane and Alvin.
