Richard D. "Ski" Verbeski, 49, of Sioux City passed away Thursday, Feb. 2, 2006, at a Sioux City hospital from complication with lung cancer.

Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Cornerstone World Outreach, with Pastor Donna Smith officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 2 to 8 p.m. Monday, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.

Richard D. Verbeski was born on Jan. 6, 1957, in Sioux City. He was a Sioux City resident the majority of his life. He served in the U.S. Air Force.

Ski married his true love, Cynthia A. (Jenkins) McArdle on May 1, 1992, in Sioux City. He was a lawn crew supervisor with Ground FX when the couple first married. Next, he was a sales associate with MCI for eight years. Later, he was a manager at Straight Shooters Casino in North Sioux City and more recently, Ski was a clerk at Sam's Mini Mart. He also was owner/DJ of StarQuest Productions since July 2000, making the singers karaoke stars and entertaining many with his shows. Ski loved fund and made sure that fun followed him.

Ski was an avid Green Bay Packer fan and proud to own a share of the Pack. Ski was well-known in the area for his green and yellow Packer truck. He also enjoyed bowling in leagues wince his youth. In years past, he belonged to a dart league, cribbage league and played fast pitch softball.

Ski was a new member of Elks Lodge 112 in 2005.

Survivors include his wife, Cindy; three sons, Bill McArdle and his wife, Laura; Shaun McArdle and Dan McArdle, all of Sioux City; three grandchildren, Emily, Carter and Hailey McArdle; six brothers, Ron Verbeski of Sioux City, Dan Verbeski and his wife, Carrie of Sioux City, Don Verbeski and his wife, Holly of Burbank, S.D., Randy Verbeski of Florence, Colo., David Jessip and his wife, Cindy of Sioux City, and Daren Jessip and his wife, Wendy of Brandon, S.D.; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and his "adopted" family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bruce and Pauline Jessip; and two brothers, Bob Verbeski and Ray Verbeski.

Pallbearers will be Bill McArdle, Shaun McArdle, Dan McArdle, David Jessip, Dan Verbeski, Don Verbeski, Ron Verbeski and Daren Jessip. NFL and StarQuest attire are encouraged at both services.
