Sallie Jean Crayne, 65, of Sioux City died Saturday, Feb. 11, 2006, at Westwood Nursing and Rehab.

Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Boniface Catholic Church, with the Rev. James Bruch officiating. Burial will be in Floyd Cemetery. Visitation will be 3 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a vigil service at 7 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.

Sallie was born Jan. 29, 1941, in Sioux City, to Earl Kenneth and Constance (Higney) Crayne. She attended St. Boniface and Sioux City Heelan Catholic Schools, graduating in 1959. After high school, she began working at St. Joseph Hospital for five years. She then worked at the Woodbury County Auditors office as a receptionist and clerk, retiring in 1985.

She was very active in the Democratic Party in her younger years. She was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church, where she was a lay Franciscan.

She is survived by three brothers and their wives, Robert and Marcia Crayne of Sioux City, James and Margie Crayne of Sioux City and John and Carol Crayne of West Palm Beach, Fla.; many nieces and nephews; great-nephews; and her special friend, Billy Johnson.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
