Nancy S. Hutchinson, 49, of Council Bluffs, Iowa, formerly of Sioux City, passed away Saturday, Feb. 11, 2006, at Jennie Edmundson Hospital in Council Bluffs.

Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Cutler-O'Neill-Meyer-Woodring Funeral Home in Council Bluffs. Burial will be in Soldier Valley Cemetery, Pisgah, Iowa, with a lunch following at the Pisgah Methodist Church. Visitation with the family will be 6 to 8:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Nancy was born in Fairfield, Iowa, to the late Gene and Jeannie (Heald) Sims, on Jan. 19, 1957. She graduated from Sioux City East High School in 1975. She graduated from Morningside College in 1979, with a degree in elementary education. She was a longtime teacher, teaching at West Harrison, Treynor and Lewis Central. Most recently, she was the instructional strategist at Kreft Elementary School.

She was driven to be her absolute best as a mother, sister, aunt, wife, educator and friend. She adored and respected her father and strove to show the same high character he did. We feel that she reached that. She will be greatly missed.

She is survived by her husband of 23 years, Larry Hutchinson; a daughter, Andrea Hutchinson of Council Bluffs; a son, Tom Hutchinson of Council Bluffs; a sister, Marsha Cowan of Prairie Village, Kan.; and a nephew, Adam Cowan of Manhattan, Kan.

Memorials are preferred to the Lewis Central Educational Foundation.
