Harold Dean Girard, 67, of Sioux City died Sunday, Feb. 12, 2006, in Sioux City.

Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Glad Tidings Lighthouse Church, with the Rev. Michael R. Ring officiating. Burial will be in St. Peter's Cemetery, Jefferson, S.D. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today at Christy-Smith Berkemier Chapel.

Harold was born June 23, 1938, in Sioux City, the son of Emil Pacific and Stella Mary (Chartier) Girard. He was raised in the Sioux City area and graduated from Jefferson (S.D.) High School in 1957.

On June 28, 1958, he was united in marriage to Janet Kleber in Jefferson. To this union five children were born. He lived his entire life in the Siouxland area except for serving in the U.S. Navy. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1957 to 1961. Following his discharge, he was a barber.

He was a member of the Barber's Union and a Little League umpire for several years. He attended Glad Tidings Lighthouse Church.

Survivors include his wife, Janet Mary (Kleber) Girard of Sioux City; two sons, Brad Girard of Sioux City and Bryan Girard and his wife, Teena of Papau, New Guinea; three daughters, Therese Girard of Sioux City, Kim and her husband, John Morris of Sioux City and Michelle and her husband, David Hopkins of San Diego, Calif.; 21 grandchildren; two nephews, Bart Kleber of Sioux City and Tom Kleber and his wife, Sarah of Sioux City; a niece, Pamela and her husband, Miguel Arce of Tulsa, Okla.; and a brother and his wife, Emil and Shirley Girard Jr. of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a granddaughter, Joanna Morris.
