Brandy Jean Massey, 29, of Sioux City passed away Friday, Feb. 24, 2006, at a Sioux City hospital.

Private family graveside services will be in Graceland Park Cemetery, with the Rev. Lee Crum officiating. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Christy-Smith Morningside Chapel.

Brandy was born Jan. 3, 1977, in Martinsville, Ind., the daughter of James and Kathryn (Parker) Massey. As a young girl, she moved with the family to Sioux City. She attended school in Riverside and graduated from West High School. She lived with her parents until 1991, when she moved into Courage Homes with her friends from school. She worked at Mid-Step Services Outreach Program.

She was a special needs person who struggled with many illnesses throughout her life, yet remained a hopeful and happy person. She enjoyed participating in the Special Olympics, softball and enjoyed going to the movies and just being around people.

Survivors include her parents, James and Kathryn Massey of Sioux City; a brother, Jim Massey and his partner Courtney Modlin of Sioux City; a sister, Kelly Massey and her partner Matthew Paronto of Sioux City; nieces and nephews, Hannah, Breana, Mitchell, Mary Ellen and Carson; and aunts, uncles, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents.

Memorials may be directed to the family.
