SOUTH SIOUX CITY -- Rita Marie Mackey, 73, of Sioux City, formerly of South Sioux City, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2006, at a Sioux City hospital.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Michael Catholic Church in South Sioux City, with the Rev. Dan Wittrock officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 2 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., a rosary at 4 p.m. and a vigil service at 7 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.

Rita was born Feb. 29, 1932, in Lake City, Iowa, the daughter of Michael and Mary (Cecelia) Mackey. She attended Cathedral High School in Sioux City. She married Robert S. Moore on Sept. 7, 1950. He preceded her in death.

She was a lifetime Siouxland resident. She was a saw operator at IBP until retiring in 1998. She also worked as a loan officer at IBP Credit Union, as an LPN at St. Joseph Hospital, as a key punch operator for Northwestern Bell.

She was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church and enjoyed serving funeral dinners and working bingo there. She loved rummaging with her good friend, Betty Dreas of South Sioux City, visiting friends and shopping at Wal-Mart. She loved to go out to eat and watch Dr. Phil and Law and Order SVU. She loved jigsaw puzzles and was a good cook.

Survivors include three sons, Robert Moore of Sioux City, Michael Moore of Sioux City and Patrick Moore and his wife, Margie of Ponca, Neb.; three daughters and their husbands, Charlene and David Dunscomb of Sioux City, Denise and Robert Holsinger of Sioux City and Theresa and James Cleveland of Dakota Dunes, S.D.; grandchildren, Lisa Hilden, Jody House, Stephanie Dunscomb, David (Shanie) Dunscomb, Jacob Moore, Rachel Moore, Michelle (Travis) Miller, David (Carrie) Meyers, Melissa Holsinger, Robbie Holsinger, Laura (Dwight) Kleene, Dustin Moore, Angela Dinkle, Michael Moore-Cleveland, Taralyn Cleveland, Ben Cleveland, Anna and Rawley Moore and Rachel Hohenstein; great-grandchildren, Bishop, Desha, Travis, Danny, Isaiha, Marques, Hilden, Hasmine, Adalena, Maripsa, Gabbi, Alex, Josie, David, Chloie, Casey and Eddie Dunscomb, Easton, Caitlyn and Nathan Miller, Ella Meyers, Alec Davis, Kasey, Kenzie, Cody and Kaylee Holsinger, Sean Fitzgerald, Amanda, Reily and Derek Fitzgerald, Spencer

Kleene, Austin Reilly-Moore and Ethan Moore; a cousin, Paul Mackey; a special friend, Betty Dreas; and her puppy, Spunky.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; an aunt, Nora Mackey; an uncle and his wife, Lawrence and Minnie Mackey; and cousins, Russell and Mary Lou Little and Betty and Wilmar Johnson.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Robb Holsinger, David Meyers, Dustin Moore, Michael Cleveland, David Dunscomb and Ben Cleveland. Honorary pallbearers will be her granddaughters and grandsons.
