MOVILLE, Iowa -- Alvin L. Robinson, 82, of Moville died Saturday, Feb. 11, 2006, at a Sioux City hospital.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Moville United Methodist Church in Moville, with the Rev. Harold Werley officiating. Burial will be in Arlington Township Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., at Christy-Smith McCulloch Chapel in Moville.

Alvin was born Aug. 26, 1923, near Moville, the son of Louis and Emma (Strohbehn) Robinson. He attended school in the Moville area. He joined the U.S. Navy in 1943. After basic training, he spent two years on the island of Saipan during World War II.

He married Shirley Fulton on Aug. 15, 1946, in Lawton, Iowa. He farmed for a short time, worked at Swift and Company until they closed and retired from Wilson Trailer Company after 27 years.

He enjoyed the outdoors and spent his later years cutting, splitting and selling firewood.

Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Shirley Robinson of Moville; a daughter and her husband, Marcia and Gary Hopp of Sioux City; a grandson, Mike Hopp of Sioux City; a granddaughter, Mary Ann Hopp and her fiance, Mike Roberts of Omaha; a sister, Luella Larson of Orting, Wash.; and an uncle, John Robinson of Kingsley, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Gladys Weston.
