Alice Marie Henke, 75, of Sioux City died Sunday, Nov. 21, 2004, at a Sioux City hospital.

Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Christy-Smith Berkemier Chapel with the Rev. Merrill G. Muller of Wesley United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home, with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m.

Alice Marie Rosenbaum was born July 21, 1929, in rural Jefferson, S.D., the daughter of Earl and Clara (Jans) Rosenbaum. She attended school at Alerd Country School.

She married Kenneth Henke on March 31, 1945, at Elk Point, S.D. They made their home on a farm near Elk Point before moving into town where they owned and operated Alice's Diner. They moved to North Sioux City in 1967. Kenneth died June 5, 1975.

Alice moved to Riverside in 1978. She worked at Harvey's Restaurant until this year.

She enjoyed reading and watching "Golden Girls" on television. Alice also enjoyed going to Harvey's and drinking coffee, smoking and gossiping. She was of the Methodist faith.

She is now free from pain and with her beloved husband, Kenneth, on the next chapter of their lives, together again.

Survivors include a daughter and her husband, Linda and Ray Kashas of Sioux City; four grandchildren, Dawn Hoyt and her companion Jerry Meister of Sioux City, Roger Ahrens of Sioux City, Deanna Guy and her husband Rick of Sioux City and Kenne Kashas and her companion Gene McKeever of Lawton, Iowa; four great-grandchildren, Matthew Kashas, Amanda Guy, Andie Guy and Joseph Ahrens; two brothers, Orin Rosenbaum and his wife Velma of Englewood, Colo., and Melvin Rosenbaum of Jefferson; a sister-in-law, Valerie Rosenbaum of Tempe, Ariz.; and several nieces, nephews, relatives and other friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth; her parents; a sister, Rosella Gilbertson; and a brother, Kenny Rosenbaum.

Pallbearers will be family members who she carried through life and now they have the privilege and honor of carrying her to her final resting place: Deanna Guy, Kenne Kashas, Roger Ahrens, Rick Guy, Ray Kashas and Gene McKeever.

Honorary pallbearers will be Jerri Colt and Travis Colt.
