Richard Carleton Moore, 85, of Safford, Ariz., formerly of Sioux City, died Wednesday, Nov. 10, 2004, in Safford.

Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Memorial Park Cemetery in Sioux City with the Rev. Arnette Pint officiating. Visitation will follow at Community United Methodist Church in Sergeant Bluff.

Richard Carleton Moore was born Jan. 12, 1919, in Topeka, Kan., the son of Clyde and Lela Moore. The family moved to Iowa in 1928. He graduated from Hornick High School in 1937.

He married Dorothy Jean Barcal on Oct. 1, 1941.

The couple moved to California where Richard worked for Lockheed Aircraft. In 1943, they returned to Iowa where he worked at a packinghouse and operated a farm. In 1962, he took a job with American Equipment. In 1972, they returned to California. He worked at Jack's Valley Store and ACE Hardware. He retired in 1984 and moved to Safford. He worked for Safford Builders and ACE Hardware. He retired again in 1991. He built accessories for the Honda Helix motor scooter he was riding.

He was a charter member of Scoot-Tours, a national touring scooter riders association. He was a lifelong member of the Methodist Church.

Survivors include a son and his wife, Peter and Linda Moore of Safford; four daughters, Judy Lines and her husband Garry of Sergeant Bluff, Randi Mackey and her husband Jim of Le Mars, Iowa, Amanda Schmitt and her husband Tom of Colorado Springs, Colo.; and Wanda Berens of Sioux City; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Marjorie Colton of Topeka.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy in 1991; his parents; a sister, Kathleen; three brothers, Albert, Duane and Clyde; and a great-grandchild, Dallas.
