BRONSON, Iowa -- Charles A. Peschel, 57, of Bronson died unexpectedly Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2007, at his residence from complications of cancer.

Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Bethel Lutheran Church in Lawton, Iowa, with the Rev. Bruce Jackson officiating. Visitation with the family will be 6 to 8 p.m. today at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel, 6200 Morningside Ave., Sioux City. Charley was born Jan. 16, 1950, in Tacoma, Wash., the son of John and Lorraine (Campbell) Peschel. He graduated from Heelan High School in 1968. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Conflict from 1969 to 1971.

He married Kathy Lukowicz on June 24, 1972, in Sioux City. He was a self-employed contractor and did both residential and commercial projects.

He was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church. He enjoyed woodworking, restoring cars and entertaining family and friends at the couple's lake home on Lewis and Clark Lake in Yankton, S.D.

Survivors include his wife, Kathy of Bronson; two sons, Stuart Peschel and his wife, April of Brandon, S.D., and Shannon Peschel of Sioux City; a daughter and her husband, Megan and Travis Fetterman of Kansas City, Mo.; two grandchildren, Konnor and Riley Peschel; three brothers, Leonard Berthelsen and his wife, Rita of Omaha, Terry Toal and his wife, Sandy of Sioux Falls, S.D., and Paul Garman of Omaha; and a sister, Patti Atwater of Sac City, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his father-in-law, Stanley Lukowicz; and a brother-in-law, Earl Monk.
