Agnes I. Nygard, 94, of Sioux City died Monday, Dec. 17, 2007, under hospice care at Indian Hills Nursing and Rehab Center.

Services will be 11 a.m. today at Augustana Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Del Olivier officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Mrs. Nygard was born Nov. 11, 1913, in Hudson, S.D., the daughter of Johannes and Anna (Eidsnes) Elvik. She grew up in the Carthage, S.D., area and graduated from Carthage High School.

She married Jonas "Ole" Nygard on Oct. 10, 1934, in South Sioux City. He died Jan. 20, 1998, in Sioux City. She was mainly a homemaker, but had worked over the years for Armour and Co., Greenville and Leeds Pharmacies.

She was a member of Augustana Lutheran Church, where she was active in the women's circle. She was a member of The Sons of Norway and the oldest living charter member of the Vasa Lodge of the Scandinavian Societies. She enjoyed fishing, camping and traveling.

Survivors include a son and his wife, Oliver and Linda Nygard of Sioux City; three brothers, Mores Elvik of Midwest City, Okla., John Elvik Jr. of Oldham, S.D., and Grant Elvik of Sioux Falls, S.D.; two sisters, Mildreth Benton of Peoria, Ariz., and Ruth Tracy of Tacoma, Wash.; two grandsons, David Nygard of Omaha and Mark Nygard of Phoenix, Ariz.; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by four sisters, Mable Wildo, Elva Ulvan, Rachael Bergman and infant sister, Birta Elvik; and two brothers, Conrad and Ralph Elvik.

Pallbearers will be Jerald Bergman, George Enderson, Steve Eggen, Mores Bergman, Scott Bergman and J.W. Bergman.

Memorials may be directed to Augustana Lutheran Church or Hospice of Siouxland.
