Rosemary J. Devine, 80, of Sioux City died Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2007, at her residence. She had been under hospice care for an extended period of time.

Mrs. Devine was born March 20, 1927, in Sioux City, where she was a lifetime resident. She was the daughter of William and Christine (Schmidt) Rowley. She graduated from Central High School and Briar Cliff College.

She married Joe Devine on April 6, 1947, in Sioux City. He preceded her in death on Feb. 6, 1998, in Sioux City. She was a school teacher for Sioux City Community Schools.

She had a passion for animals and gardening. She served on the Sioux City Library board and was a member of the P.E.O.

Survivors include a son, Kirk Devine of Lawrence, Kan.; a daughter, Robin Devine of Lawrence, Kan.; a sister, Louie Davidson of Lincoln, Neb.; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband.
