Lois Levering of Kerrville, Texas, formerly of Sioux City passed away Sunday, Dec. 23, 2007, at a local care facility following a lengthy illness.

Memorial services will be 11 a.m. today at Riverside Lutheran Church in Sioux City, with her nephew, the Rev. Glen Houts officiating. Lois was born in Sioux City on Sept. 19, 1918, to Paul and Hazel (Rochester) McKelvey.

After marrying Richard Levering on April 30, 1955, in Sioux City they were stationed several years in Germany and at other U.S. Army facilities in the United States. They retired in San Antonio, Texas, and remained there for the next 35 years.

She is survived by a daughter and her husband, LaVonne and Earl Feauto of Kerrville, Texas; grandsons and their wives, Rick and Sara Nearman and Marc and Heather Nearman, all of Sioux City; granddaughter, Amy and her husband, Dean Hardin of San Antonio, Texas; stepgranddaughters, Kris Feauto of Lincoln, Neb., and Jackie Wagner of Tekamah, Neb.; stepgrandson and his wife, Jerry and Donna Feauto of Des Moines; a brother and his wife, Glen and Sharon Houts of North Sioux City; a sister and her husband, Clara and Ted Mead of Mesa, Ariz.; a sisters-in-law, Pat McKelvey of Keifer, Okla., and Gwen McKelvey of Elk Point, S.D.; 20 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and a host of many loving friends and neighbors.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Levering; sisters, Pauline Fink and Etta Solomon; and brothers, Bob and Vernon McKelvey.

In lieu of floral tributes, memorials may be made in her name to the Siouxland Hospice or Vista Care Hospice in Kerrville, Texas.
