Jules M. Busker, 88, of Sioux City died Thursday, Nov. 22, 2007, at a Sioux City hospital following a brief illness.

Memorial services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, with the Rev. Merlin Schrad officiating. The body will be cremated. Private graveside services will be at a later date in Graceland Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a vigil service at 7 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel, 6200 Morningside Ave. Online condolences may be sent to http://www.meyerbroschapels.com">www.meyerbroschapels.com.

Jules was born March 18, 1919, in Sioux City, to George and Ethel (Simmons) Busker. He graduated from East High School and went on to graduate from the University of Nebraska in 1941. After graduating from college, Jules enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served his country during World War II from 1941 to 1944 as a naval aviator. He retired from the service as a captain.

During his enlistment in the Navy, Jules married Anne Postello on March 15, 1942, in Jacksonville, Fla. He worked as a financial planner at Investors Diversified in Sioux City. Jules also held positions and served on several boards which included the school board, county supervisor, highway commission and the department of transportation.

He was a member of Church of the Nativity and past longtime member of Blessed Sacrament. Jules enjoyed golfing, traveling, playing bridge, watching football and wintering in Tucson, Ariz.

Survivors include his wife, Anne Busker of Sioux City; two daughters, Jean (Joe) Kirby of Littleton, Colo., and Barbara (Gary) Fey of Highland Ranch, Colo.; two sons, Tom (Linda) Busker of Wilbur, Wash., and Jim (Jean) Busker of Sioux City; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Jay Busker.
