Wendell Earl Beverly, 66, of Haltom City, Texas, formerly of Sioux City, passed away Saturday, Nov. 17, 2007, in Haltom City and joined his wife, Sara, in heaven.

Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church in Sioux City, with the Rev. Roger Madden officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 9:30 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Becker-Hunt Funeral Home.

Wendell was born April 21, 1941, in Dublin, Texas, the son of Jouette Allen and Myrtle Eloise (Smith) Beverly.

He married Sara Tuton on July 10, 1965, in Sioux City. He retired from a career as an ironworker and stayed active in volunteering.

He helped with Habitat for Humanity, the First Street Mission in Fort Worth, Texas and volunteered at the yearly ironworker picnic. As a member of First United Methodist Church of Fort Worth, he was active in their Downtown Singles (DTS) Program. He wanted to help everyone and loved his motorcycle riding. He loved spending time with his grandchildren.

Survivors include a son, Darrell Beverly and his special friend, Mary Radley of Sioux City; twin daughters, Marsha and her husband, Tom Boudreau of Fort Worth, Texas, and Margarett Beverly of Sanger, Texas; a daughter and her husband, Dianna and Dan Baumgartner of Sioux Falls, S.D.; two sisters, Grace Woods of Burleson, Texas, and Alvaretta and her husband, Charles Atherton of Hurst, Texas; three brothers and their wives, Carl and Judy Beverly of Anacoco, La., Jack and Patricia Beverly of Stephenville, Texas, and Buster and Rhudene Beverly of Amarillo, Texas; his companion, Carol Rasco of Fort Worth; his mother-in-law, Lola Chapman of Dilworth, Minn.; father-in-law, Jim Tuton Sr. of Sioux City; two brothers-in-law and their wives, James and Paulette Tuton of Spencer, Iowa, and Leslie and LaDonna Tuton of Dilworth, Minn.; four grandchildren, Kristy and Heidi Beverly and Rebecca and Adam Boudreau; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Sara who passed away Feb. 2, 1987 in Hurst, Texas; an infant son, Adam Beverly; and six siblings.

Pallbearers will be Jeff Fulton, Steve Thompson, Scott Frink, Jim and Les Tuton, Cliff Morse and Dan Leckband.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
