Daniel K. Rose, 56, of Sioux City passed away peacefully in his sleep Monday, Nov. 19, 2007, at his residence.

Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel, 6200 Morningside Ave., with the Rev. Valerie Heller of Rustin Avenue United Methodist Church officiating. Dan was born Dec. 12, 1950, in Sioux City, the son of William K. and Dorothy J. (Arnett) Rose. He graduated from East High School in 1969 and learned diesel mechanics in Kansas City, Mo.

He married Georgia K. Cardwell on April 20, 1973, in Sioux City. He was employed at Burlington Northern -- Sante Fe Railroad as a machine operator for 37 years.

He enjoyed working on cars in his spare time. He could always be found in the garage working on something. He loved making birdhouses with his grandson, Ethan. He also loved spending time with grandsons, Travis and Jacob.

Survivors include his wife, Georgia Rose of Sioux City; a son, Daniel Rose and his partner, JoAnne Wiseman of Sioux City; two daughters and their husbands, Denise and Douglas Davis and DeAnne and Danny Brachtendorf, all of Sioux City; grandchildren, Ethan Rose, Travis Rose and Jacob Brachtendorf, all of Sioux City; a sister, Karen Shitt; and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Dorothy Rose; and a brother, William D. Rose.
