June L. Schumann, 77, of Sioux City died Monday, Nov. 19, 2007, at Casa de Paz Nursing Facility.

Services will be 2 p.m. today at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel, with the Rev. R. Paul Johnston officiating. Burial will be in Logan Park Cemetery. June was born Oct. 30, 1930, in Sioux City, the daughter of Clarence and Blanche (Kneebone) Whitmore. She attended Sioux City schools.

She was married to Leonard Miller in 1946. To this union, three children were born. She later married Orville Lester "Red" Schumann on Sept. 5, 1971, at Trinity Lutheran Church. Orville preceded her in death in 1977 in Sioux City. She ran June's Beauty Salon for many years in Sioux City.

She had a passion for genealogy. She was baptized, confirmed and a long-standing member of Trinity Lutheran Church. She also enjoyed singing in the church choir. She was a former member of the American Legion Women's Auxiliary.

Survivors include four stepdaughters, Judy (Vincent Raymond) Boyle, Jeanette (Mark) Ricker, Lori (Hughlet) Smith and Bernie Lopez, all of Sioux City; a sister, Lucille (Raymond) Knutson of Sioux City; a brother-in-law, Tom Benson of South Sioux City; two grandsons, Steven Jr. and David Miller; and a close friend, Denise Turner of Sioux City.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Red; three children, Steven, Diane and Donna Miller; two brothers, Clarence and Charles Whitmore; and a sister, Joan Benson.
