SIOUX CITY | Raymond Jacob Warengo, 91, of Sioux City, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2017, at home.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, with a rosary at 4 p.m. and a prayer service at 6 p.m., at Christy-Smith Morningside Chapel.

Ray was born Oct. 11, 1925, in Onawa, Iowa, to Nick and Anna (Kies) Warengo. He graduated from Onawa High School. Ray entered the U.S. Army in 1943, and was honorably discharged in 1945.

He married Delores Hickman May 17, 1952, in Onawa. She preceded him in death Sept. 16, 1995.

Ray had lived in Sioux City since 1966. He worked at a John Deere implement dealership for several years, and at Case Power and Equipment until he retired in 1987.

Ray was a member of Immaculate Conception Church, VFW Post 1973, and the Woodbury Woodies.

He enjoyed woodworking and camping.

Survivors include his daughters, Teresa Robbins of Cushing, Iowa, and Monica (Glen) Voorhees of Grand Island, Fla.; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sister, Betty Gushard of Omaha, Neb.; brothers, Gary (Debbie) Warengo of Blencoe, Iowa, Robert (Linda) Warengo of Peoria, Ariz., and Eugene Warengo of Lakeside, Calif.; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Delores; sisters, Mary McMillan, Helen Young and Rose Shultz; and brothers, Jim Warengo and Clarence Warengo.
