SIOUX CITY | Colleen P. Higgins, 91, of Sioux City, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2017, at her residence.

Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Glendale Baptist Church. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. today at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City.

Colleen was born on March 30, 1925, in Sioux City, to George and Ida (Lancrain) Cooley. She graduated from Central High School in 1943. Following high school, she worked at the Sioux City Battery Factory.

She met and married Mark "Pete" Higgins in 1944. He passed away in 2010, after 66 years of marriage.

Colleen enjoyed cooking, sewing, babysitting, fishing, and gardening, she especially enjoyed her rose bushes. She was a longtime devoted member of Glendale Baptist Church. At the church, she was a member of the Ladies Aid and was very involved in the mother-daughter banquet every year. The most important part of Colleen's life was spending time with her family.

Survivors include her children, Mark (Anna) Higgins of Gillet Grove, Iowa, Judy Wiatrek of Sioux City, Lonnie (Arlene) Higgins of Colombia, Neb., Robin (Deborah) Higgins of Montrose, Colo., and Brian Higgins of Sioux City; 12 grandchildren; 31great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.

Colleen was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Mark "Pete"; two sisters, Eva Davies and Elvira Irwin; grandson, Paul Farley; and great-grandson, Taylor Farley.
