10 February 2007William J.D. Schafer Jr., 79, of Sioux City died Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2007, at his residence.
Memorial services will be 7 p.m. Monday at Anderson-Perasso Funeral Home, with the Rev. Alex Washington officiating. Burial will be at a later date. There will be no visitation. Condolences may be sent online to www.meyerbroschapels.com.
Mr. Schafer was born Feb. 3, 1928, in Sioux City, the son of William J.D. and Eva M. (Massey) Schafer Sr. He retired from the city of Sioux City Utility Water Department after 37 years of service.
He enjoyed bowling and fishing.
Survivors include three sons, Gene (Lori) Schafer of Grapeview, Wash., Larry Schafer of Sioux City and Gary (Nikki) Schafer of Sioux City; four daughters, Vicki Witkowski of Sioux City, Debra (Cecil) McKnight of Sioux City, Beverly (Jeff) Harrison of Ballard, Wash., and Barbara (Roger) McGregor of Vancouver, Wash.; 19 grandchildren; and 28 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Diane; three brothers; and two sisters.
