SOUTH SIOUX CITY -- Robert L. Markee, 71, of South Sioux City died Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2007, at his residence.

Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Becker-Hunt Funeral Home, with the Rev. Jerry Gilbreath officiating. A military flag presentation will be conducted by the American Legion at the funeral home. Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 2 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present at 6 p.m., at the funeral home.

Robert was born March 24, 1935, in South Sioux City, the son of Harvey and Rosella (Austin) Markee. He graduated from high school. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a mechanic at and retired from I.B.P. in Dakota City.

He married Regina Delores "Dee" Bates on June 2, 1962, in North Platte, Neb. She died Dec. 7, 1989, in Sioux City.

He was a member of the UFCW 222.

Survivors include three sons and their wives, Larry and Katherine Bauer of Tucson, Ariz., Ronald and Diana Bauer of Houston, Texas, and Robert and Lilia Bauer of Troy, Mont.; five daughters, Donna Kile of Sioux City, Regina and her husband, Alex Kane of Sioux City, Janet Bauer of Tucson, Ariz., Patricia Bauer of South Sioux City and Sandra Tomlinson of Sioux City; 24 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Gerald Markee; and three sisters, Jeanette Jones, Shirley Burns and LaVon "Bonnie" Workman.
