SOUTH SIOUX CITY -- Allen Becker, 92, of South Sioux City died Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2007, at a South Sioux City care center.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Michael Catholic Church, with the Rev. Daniel Wittrock officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 2 to 8 p.m. today, with a Scriptural wake service at 7 p.m., at Becker-Hunt Funeral Home.

Allen was born Sept. 8, 1914, in Hornick, Iowa, the son of George L. and Susan S. (Allen) Becker. He graduated from Hornick High School.

He married Phyllis J. Brinkman and after her death, he married Adeline I. Thompson on Sept. 4, 1954, at St. Michael Catholic Church in South Sioux City. She died June 29, 2000, in South Sioux City. He was a butcher for more than 30 years, retiring from Swift and Company.

He was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church, fraternal Order of Eagles in South Sioux City and was an avid bowler.

Survivors include four daughters, Maribeth and her husband, Richard Carlson of Ames, Iowa, Kathleen and her husband, Jim Pitts of Des Moines, Margaret and her husband, Bill Commerford of Yucca Valley, Calif., and Sylvia Hughes of Akron, Iowa; two sisters, Irene Jones of Rantoul, Ill., and Marge Pettit of Kansas City, Mo.; 18 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Jean Marie Stewart; two brothers, George and Larry; a sister, Bessie Arnold; and a grandson.

Pallbearers will be Ricky and Scott Hughes, Chris and Clifford Stewart, John Dross, Jason Pitts, Craig Knox, Bernie Welch and Jeff Counter. Honorary pallbearers will be his sons-in-law, Richard Carlson, Jim Pitts and Bill Commerford.
