SLOAN, Iowa -- Dennis M. Wilt, 58, of Sloan died Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2007, at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha.

Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Salix, Iowa, with the Rev. Patrick O'Kane officiating. Burial will be in Sloan Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. today, with a Scripture prayer service at 7 p.m., at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Rush Family Care Service in Onawa, Iowa.

Dennis was born Nov. 29, 1948, in Sioux City, the son of Delbert W. and Rosalie (Lamoureux) Wilt. He was raised in the Sloan area and graduated from Westwood High School in 1967. He spent time farming at home until March 1969, when he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served during the Vietnam War until his discharge in March 1971.

He and Judy Sieger were united in marriage on Feb. 3, 1973. The couple made their home in Sloan. He worked for Heisterkamp Equipment in Sloan for a number of years. He was currently employed at AG Processing in Sergeant Bluff for more than 30 years.

He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, American Legion Smith-Rhodes Post 295 and served more than 30 years on the Sloan Volunteer Fire Department. He enjoyed fishing, boating and always enjoyed time with his family, friends and especially his grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Judy of Sloan; two daughters and their husbands, Stacy and Hugh Heilman and Ann and Adam Lee, all of Salix, Iowa; four grandchildren, Steven and Thomas Heilman and twins, Chase and Addison Lee; his mother, Rosalie Wilt of Whiting, Iowa; three brothers and their wives, Maurice D. and Cathy of Salix, Raymond H. and Carol of Gainesville, Fla., and Michael W. and Rhonda of Sloan; his mother-in-law, Lucille Sieger of Sloan; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his son, Steven D.; his father, Delbert W.; and his father-in-law, Donald Sieger.
